Jye Smith has been appointed vice-president, digital, Asia Pacific, at Weber Shandwick. Jye’s new role relocates him from Sydney to Hong Kong as he joins the firm’s regional Centre of Digital Excellence, reporting to Jon Wade, head of digital, Asia Pacific.

Jye previously led Weber Shandwick’s digital strategy and social media engagement for major brands across a wide range of industries in Australia. He is also a frequent speaker on all things digital and was included in B&T magazine’s ‘Top 30 Under 30’ last year.

As digital vice-president, Smith will work with clients and staff across the firm’s 18 offices in the region, tapping into the broader digital environment, including a focus on online issues and crisis management. He will also continue to work with the team and clients in Australia, which will take him back to Sydney on a regular basis.

Weber Shandwick’s Centre of Digital Excellence in Hong Kong supports local offices by serving as a digital strategy and creative hub for the entire region. The hub includes the firm’s Digital Content Studio, which provides quick turn-around, high-quality digital content, including video, infographics and web development production capabilities for Weber Shandwick’s clients’ social and digital initiatives.
